Jake Browning completed just 10 of 18 passes for 52 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception during Saturday's preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He also rushed for an additional five yards on two attempts. Browning re-signed with Cincinnati as their No. 2 quarterback this offseason, and while he remains in position to be
Joe Burrow's backup, the competition got a little more interesting as Browning struggled and
Logan Woodside excelled against the Buccaneers. Browning should get additional opportunities to separate himself from Woodside over the Bengals' two remaining preseason games. Even if Browning does win the backup job, he'll remain off the fantasy radar as long as Burrow is healthy.

The Cincinnati Bengals re-signed exclusive-rights free-agent quarterback
Jake Browning to an undisclosed two-year deal on Tuesday on a contract through the 2025 season. Browning got his first real shot in the NFL last year with the Bengals when he was forced to replace
Joe Burrow (wrist) after his season-ending injury. In his first nine games (seven starts) played in the NFL, he held his own and kept the Bengals competitive despite not making the playoffs, posting a league-best 70.4 completion percentage, 1,936 yards, 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions. The 28-year-old will return to being the primary backup to Burrow in 2024, so he won't have any real fantasy appeal unless Burrow misses time with another injury.

Jake Browning has been issued a tender, which assures the team that they will retain his exclusive rights for the 2024 season. Browning now has the option of signing the team's tender offer or negotiating a long-term deal with the club. The 27-year-old made his NFL debut in 2023 for the Bengals and was forced into a starting role due to injuries to
Joe Burrow. Browning ended up appearing in nine games (seven starts) and acquitted himself well with a league-high 70.4% completion percentage with 1,936 passing yards, 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Jake Browning threw for 156 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception off 18-for-24 passing in Sunday's win over the Browns. He added two carries for 18 yards. The Bengals had nothing to play for, considering they were eliminated from postseason contention after losing to the Chiefs in Week 17. However, the signal-caller still ended the year on a high note. Although Browning's efforts weren't enough to lead the Bengals to the playoffs after taking over for
Joe Burrow (wrist) earlier in the year, he likely did enough to solidify his backup job for the 2024-25 campaign. Of course, unless Browning gets put into a similar situation next season, he won't see much interest from fantasy managers in drafts heading into Week 1.
