Yandy Diaz Homers, Exits Friday’s Win Early
3 years agoTampa Bay Rays infielder Yandy Diaz went 1-for-3 with a solo home run during Friday's 10-4 win over the Minnesota Twins. He took Michael Pineda deep in second inning for his ninth long ball of the season. The Rays homered four times to defeat the Twins 10-4. Diaz left Friday's game against the Twins in the bottom of the sixth inning due to a left thumb sprain. He exited early after injuring his thumb during a play in the field. The severity of Diaz's injury is unknown at this time, and he's considered day-to-day. Diaz is slashing .254/.363/.379 across 399 plate appearances in 2021. Jordan Luplow replaced Diaz in the game and would see an uptick in playing time if the 30-year-old were to miss any games.
