Matthew Stafford Will Not Play In Preseason
3 years agoSpeaking about Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford in an interview with Doug Gottlieb, head coach Sean McVay stated that there is zero chance that Stafford would ever take a snap in the preseason as long as he is the coach. McVay tied this largely to the injury risk, stating, "Until you tell me that if a guy gets hurt in the preseason we'll get those games back, it's hard for me to make sense of it." Stafford has already had offseason surgery on his thumb before sustaining an injury to it last week. It's unfortunate that Stafford and his pass-catchers won't have at least one week of live game repetitions to get up to speed, but with a largely veteran room, that shouldn't cause too many hiccups.
