Gleyber Torres Placed On The 10-Day Injured List
3 years agoNew York Yankees shortstop Gleyber Torres (thumb) was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left thumb sprain. Torres appeared to jam his thumb while stealing a base during Sunday's game, though he stayed in the contest until the ninth inning. Manager Aaron Boone said after the game that there was some concern about the status of the 24-year-old shortstop, who indeed got some bad news from the MRI. Torres has been disappointing for fantasy purposes this season, but there appeared to be a glimmer of hope when the calendar turned to August, as he was batting .393 with five RBI, four runs scored, and two stolen bases through eight games. The Yankees will likely go with Tyler Wade as the primary shortstop, with recent call-up Andrew Velazquez likely mixing in as well. Wade offers little fantasy value outside of his speed on the basepaths.
