Andrew Heaney Fans Nine In First Win As Yankee
3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Andrew Heaney earned his first win as a member of his new club Saturday against the Mariners. Heaney went six innings, allowing four runs on four hits while walking a trio of batters. The lefty had the strikeout stuff working, as he fanned nine hitters while generating 12 whiffs, eight of them on his fastball. Heaney has struggled at times with his fastball, but the improved control and command were evident on Saturday, as he leaned on the offering to put away Mariners hitters. Heaney still sports an unimpressive 5.45 ERA but his strikeout ability is unquestioned, with 126 punchouts across 104 innings. Still, he's probably best avoided in his next matchup, a tough one against the White Sox.
