Saturdays are made for baseball and we have the beauty of day games and evening games so we can watch (and gamble) on baseball pretty much all day long. We've reached the dog days of August, but the boys of Summer still have plenty of games to play before it's football season.
With a relatively clear weather report, we don't have any real postponement threats on either slate which is always nice. Today I am going to be focusing on the main slate and breaking it down for you with some of my favorite pitchers and hitters for your FanDuel MLB DFS contests.
I'll be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for the FanDuel main slate on 8/7/2021. Be sure to also check out all the MLB player news, including late scratches, and the projected and confirmed daily MLB lineups for each DFS slate. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for sites like DraftKings, and other sports.
FanDuel DFS Pitchers
Cash Game/GPP Anchor Play:
Charlie Morton vs. WAS ($8,700)
Morton is having a heck of a year for Atlanta and showing that he's only been getting better with age. As Atlanta's most consistent starter, he's been piling up wins and pitching effectively all year long, but he's been particularly good in July when he reeled off 7+ strikeouts in four of his five starts.
He's just too cheap here for a home favorite with a good chance of 5-7 strikeouts and a win. Washington's lineup is pretty watered down now other than Soto and Bell after they dealt away a bunch of their starters at the deadline. I'm good with Charlie here at this price and project him for a floor of around 30 FD points and a ceiling up around 45-50.
Potential Alternate Play
Eli Morgan vs. DET ($6,700)
If you want to pay down and chase some cheap upside, then Morgan might be the best choice. After some really rough starts when he first came up with the Tribe, he's actually settled into some consistency of late. He's allowed three earned runs or fewer in four straight starts and has flashed some nice K potential with several 9-strikeout games, including his most recent outing against a formidable Blue Jays lineup.
Picking on Detroit is still a viable strategy, despite their offensive improvement in the second half and we saw the Indians' other back-end starter Cal Quantrill dominate them last night to the tune of 10 strikeouts over seven scoreless.

FanDuel DFS Infielders
Jonathan India - 2B/3B vs. PIT ($3,700)
India is red hot and leading off for this Reds offense that has been smashing Pittsburgh pitching in this series so far. He's homered in both games and has five homers and eight RBI over the last week. Continue to target Cincy today against the youngster Mitch Keller, who continues to struggle in the majors.
Omar Narvaez – C vs. SFG ($3,000)
Catchers are always criminally under-utilized on FanDuel and I am always interested in rostering guys like Narvaez or Buster Posey who have prime hitting slots in the middle of good lineups. Narvaez is a nice value here at only 3k at home considering how well he hits sinkerballers and he matches up against Aaron Sanchez - a guy who primarily throws a sinker/slider pitch mix.
Austin Riley – 3B vs. WAS ($3,500)
I think the perception is that Riley is a lefty-masher who we should target primarily against southpaws, but this season he's smashing RHP to the tune of a .426 wOBA and .276 ISO. The Braves face rookie Josiah Gray today who has posted some very poor batted ball metrics this season and is allowing over 50% fly balls. Austin Riley is going yard tonight.
FanDuel DFS Outfielders
Mookie Betts - vs. LAA ($4,500)
Keep an eye on his status for tonight as he left last night's game early with a minor injury, but I expect Mookie to be in the lineup tonight and as long as he's in the Dodgers lineup, he will be in some of my FanDuel lineups. Betts is raking right now, with a four-game hitting streak since coming off the IL and three homers. Against Barria, the Dodgers should be a popular stack tonight and for good reason, as he's been a pretty poor pitcher in his limited time as a big-league starter.
Franmil Reyes – vs. DET ($3,500)
When there's a questionable lefty on the mound facing Cleveland, Franmil is going to always interest me in tournaments. The Indians are pretty stackable today against Tyler Alexander and even if you don't want to stack them, you should consider using Franmil (the Franimal, the FranGOAT) as a one-off. He's hitting lefties to the tune of a .250 ISO this season and has so much power. He might hit one 500+ feet off Alexander if he grooves him one.
Jo Adell – vs. LAD ($2,300)
Looking for a bargain? Adell is one of my favorite cheap hitters tonight against lefty Julio Urias. After going 3-4 in his season debut, he's cooled off a bit but we know the talent and tools are there and all it takes is one swing of the bat to shoot you up the leaderboards. Or even a walk and a stolen base would have you sitting pretty with him being this cheap.
