ANALYSIS: Codi Heuer was part of the White Sox package (along with Nick Madrigal) shipped to the Cubs in exchange for Craig Kimbrel at this year's deadline, and while he has struggled when viewing the season as a whole, a move to the Cubs might turn out to be ideal. Heuer has a 4.75 ERA and 1.39 WHIP in 41.2 IP this season, but he has a 0.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and two holds in his first 3.0 IP with the Cubbies.

He ended his time with the White Sox on a good note too, holding a 2.79 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in 9.2 IP through the month of July. Before the deadline concluded, the Cubs ended up dealing away three of their top high-leverage bullpen arms in Kimbrel, Ryan Tepera, and Andrew Chafin, so Heuer has arrived in an ideal environment for picking up late-season holds and saves, even if the Cub fire sale means that they might not do a whole lot of winning over the final months. In deeper leagues, the opportunity presented to Codi Heuer by his trade to the Cubs could be worth rolling the dice on.
