Javier Baez Sidelined For Monday's Contest
3 years agoChicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez will be out on Monday versus the Cincinnati Reds. Baez suffered a lower body injury late in Sunday's game versus the Arizona Diamondbacks. Manager David Ross seemed optimistic after the game that Baez should be fine moving forward. It makes sense to give Baez a day of rest on Monday and the Cubs are likely to play it safe with the talented shortstop being one of their top trade chips. Baez for now remains day-to-day. With Baez sidelined, second baseman Nico Hoerner will slide over to shortstop and infielder David Bote will start at second base versus Wade Miley on Monday. Hoerner has been in a slump of late, but Bote hit a home run in his return from the injured list on Sunday. Both Hoerner and Bote don't offer much upside at the moment and are risky plays in DFS.
