Corey Knebel Begins Rehab Assignment
3 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers reliever Corey Knebel (lat) will operate as the opener as part of his rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City. Knebel has been sidelined since April 23 with a right lat injury and Monday will be his first game action since he got hurt. Knebel was having a good season for the Dodgers before his injury and was mostly pitching in the eighth inning. Knebel is only expected to throw one inning, but it's a step in the right direction. Knebel was 1-0 with two saves and a 4.50 ERA in six innings this year and also struck out nine in six innings. He is likely to be eased back into late leverage situations when he eventually returns to the Dodgers. He could also be a candidate to replace closer Kenley Jansen if he continues to fail at the end of ballgames. Knebel offers his most value is leagues that count holds and managers that roster Jansen should also keep an eye on his status when he returns.
