Gerrit Cole Fans Eight In Loss To Boston
3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole fell just shy of a quality start in Friday's loss to the Red Sox. Cole went five innings, allowing three runs on six hits while walking two. He struck out eight batters and generated 16 whiffs on 104 pitches. The ace righty has largely figured out how to pitch in the post-sticky stuff environment, posting a strong 37:9 strikeout-to-walk ratio and 3.09 ERA in July. Cole will next take on the Rays, who have won two of three games he's started this year, despite the ace compiling 29 punchouts to two walks against their lineup. Even with slugger Nelson Cruz a part of the Tampa Bay order, Cole should remain a must-start fantasy ace for the matchup.
