Amir Garrett Placed On Paternity List
3 years agoThe Cincinnati Reds placed relief pitcher Amir Garrett on the paternity list on Friday and recalled infielder Alejo Lopez and starting pitcher Vladimir Gutierrez from Triple-A Louisville in corresponding moves. Right-hander Jose De Leon was also released on Friday. Garrett is likely to miss the entire three-game series this weekend against the St. Louis Cardinals. The 29-year-old left-hander has a rough 6.75 ERA and 1.56 WHIP on the season, but he's struck out 43 hitters and saved seven games in 30 2/3 relief innings. Garrett picked up the team's last save this week, but he also has a bloated 13.2 percent walk rate and is a very shaky option for saves in deeper leagues. Heath Hembree, who should already be owned in the majority of formats, should see all of the team's save chances with Garrett out and Tejay Antone and Lucas Sims on the rehab trail.
