Yasmani Grandal Doing Baseball Activities
3 years agoChicago White Sox catcher Yasmani Grandal (knee) has done some throwing from distance and taken light swings recently, according to manager Tony La Russa. The skipper believes that Grandal is ahead of schedule, but that remains to be seen. Grandal needed surgery earlier this month to fix a torn tendon in his left knee, but he's making good progress and could have a chance to return sometime in August, barring any setbacks. The 32-year-old switch-hitter has a very useful 14 home runs and .388 on-base percentage in 181 at-bats this year from the weak catching position, but he won't help you at all from a batting average standpoint (.188). For the power alone at the shallowest fantasy position, Grandal is worth stashing in deep mixed leagues. Zack Collins and Seby Zavala have been sharing catching duties in Chicago with Grandal sidelined.
