Mike Moustakas Making Good Progress
3 years agoCincinnati Reds infielder Mike Moustakas (heel) is progressing "a lot quicker now," according to skipper David Bell. It was reported last week that Moustakas was still dealing with pain in his heel, but it looks like he has improved significantly since then. However, Moustakas will likely need to go on a lengthy minor league rehab assignment, since he's been out since mid-May with a bone bruise in his heel. It remains to be seen where Moose will play when he's ready to return, too, as Jonathan India has been an excellent table-setter at the top of the lineup and at second base for a very productive Reds offense. Eugenio Suarez has really struggled at third base with a .170 average and .254 on-base percentage, but he does have 18 homers and 52 RBI. Moustakas could be ticketed for more of a platoon role whenever he makes it back to the active roster.
