Carson Kelly Participates In Full BP Session On Monday
3 years agoArizona Diamondbacks catcher Carson Kelly (wrist) went through an entire pre-game batting practice session on Monday. He's been sidelined since June 19 with a fracture in his right wrist. The 27-year-old can throw and swing a bat now, which means he is closer to a return. Kelly will begin a rehab assignment soon and is targeting an early August timeline. The Diamondbacks catcher was having his best season of his career before being placed on the 10-day injured list, slashing .260/.385/.460 with eight home runs, 26 RBI, 28 walks, and 22 runs scored across 187 plate appearances. Dalton Varsho will continue to handle catcher duties while Kelly is sidelined. Although Varsho has upside, he's struggled at the plate after slashing .144/.267/.211 across 105 plate appearances in 2021. The 25-year-old is mainly a stash in dynasty leagues for now.
