Saquon Barkley Still Non-Committal On Status
3 years agoNew York Giants running back Saquon Barkley (knee) said his right knee is feeling "pretty good," but he remains non-committal on how much he'll do at training camp and whether he'll be ready for Week 1 against the Denver Broncos. Barkley is not expected to be a full-go at the start of training camp, a source said last month, but that doesn't mean he won't be ready for the regular season opener. Ever since he tore his ACL and injured his meniscus in Week 2 of last year, both Barkley and the team have been reluctant to put a timetable on his return. The Giants won't put him on the field in live situations until he's 100 percent, and that might not come until October. The 24-year-old is likely to have his workload reduced early on in the regular season, and with all the injuries he's had early in his career, Barkley's current ADP of 5.3 among RBs will likely drop some. However, when healthy, he still has the talent to be a high-end RB1. Barkley produced over 2,000 scrimmage yards and 15 touchdowns in his rookie season, but he's amassed 1,535 total yards and eight touchdowns in 15 games in the last two seasons because of injuries.
