Stephen Strasburg Suffers Setback In Rehab
3 years agoWashington Nationals starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg (neck) suffered a setback recently in his rehab program, according to Jesse Dougherty of the Washington Post. Manager Dave Martinez said that Strasburg felt some discomfort in his neck after throwing a simulated game in San Diego, and the team has now backtracked Strasburg to playing catch on flat ground. This is obviously disappointing news for managers, as Strasburg has been out since the beginning of June due to a neck strain. Injuries have limited Strasburg to just five starts this season, and he has been largely ineffective in them as he has gone 1-2 with a 4.57 ERA, 1.385 WHIP, 22.1 percent strikeout rate and 14.7 percent walk rate over 21 2/3 innings of work. All managers can do at this point is continue to keep an eye out for updates on his condition, but it's beginning to get to the point where Strasburg just may not have an impact in fantasy in 2021.
