Julio Urias Picks Up Another Victory
4 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Julio Urias earned his 12th win of the season versus the Colorado Rockies in Friday's victory. Urias didn't have his best results of the season, but he pitched well enough. The lefty went 5 2/3 innings and allowed seven hits, four runs, one walk and struck out three on the evening. The three strikeouts were tied for the fewest amount he had in a game this season. Urias is expected to turn into the Dodgers top pitcher in the second half with Clayton Kershaw (forearm) and Trevor Bauer (administrative leave) both sidelined for the foreseeable future. The lefty is now 12-3 with a 3.78 ERA. Next up will be a battle against a tough San Francisco Giants offense on Wednesday.

Julio Urias Charged With Five Misdemeanors From 2023 Arrest
12 months agoFormer Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Julio Urias was charged with five misdemeanors stemming from his arrest in 2023 on suspicion of domestic violence last September, according to a spokesperson from the LA City Attorney's office. The charges include one count of spousal battery, two counts of domestic battery involving dating relationship, one count of false imprisonment and one count of assault. An arraignment is scheduled for May 2. The 27-year-old southpaw spent the rest of last year on administrative leave with the Dodgers before his contract expired in early November. Urias was not signed by a team this past offseason and could face discipline eventually from the league. He was suspended for 20 games in 2019 after being arrested but not charged on misdemeanor suspicion of domestic violence. It's very possible we won't ever see him pitch in the big leagues again.

Los Angeles Prosecutors Decline To Charge Julio Urias With Felony
1 year agoLos Angeles prosecutors declined to file felony charges against free-agent starting pitcher Julio Urias in connection with his September arrest on suspicion of domestic violence, per the Orange County Register. Urias was placed on administrative leave by MLB shortly after the incident while he was on the Dodgers. The case has instead been referred to the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office for consideration as a possible misdemeanor case. This is his second domestic violence offense, as he was suspended for 20 games after the first incident in 2019. While Urias has been a higher-end fantasy option throughout his career, it remains to be seen if any MLB teams will be willing to offer him a contract.

Julio Urias Goes On Administrative Leave
2 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers left-hander Julio Urias was placed on administrative leave and might have pitched his last game for the team after being arrested for the second time on felony domestic-violence charges on Sunday night. Urias was suspended for 20 games after the first incident in 2019, and he's likely to receive a second suspension that could eat up the remainder of the 2023 season/postseason. The 27-year-old is scheduled to become a free agent this offseason, but that will go very differently after his latest domestic-violence incident. While fantasy managers may not want to drop Urias just yet, they should fully prepare for him not to pitch again in 2023. If this is the end of his 2023 campaign, he'll finish with an 11-8 record, 4.60 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 117 strikeouts in 117 1/3 innings over his 21 starts in LA.

Julio Urias Arrested And Charged With Domestic Violence
2 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers left-hander Julio Urias was arrested and charged with felony domestic violence late Sunday night, according to a Los Angeles Police Department officer. The 27-year-old southpaw was booked late Sunday and released early Monday morning on $50,000 bond. It's not the first time Urias has been involved with domestic violence, as he was suspended 20 games for the same thing back in 2019. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect Urias to make his next scheduled start this Thursday against the Miami Marlins, and there's a very good chance he'll go on administrative leave the rest of the season while the league investigates the matter. A lengthy suspension in 2024 is likely coming as well.
