Ronald Acuna Jr. Suffers Season-Ending ACL Tear
3 years agoAtlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. (knee) has suffered a complete tear of his ACL that will require season-ending surgery, according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network. Acuna suffered the injury on an awkward landing while attempting to make a leaping catch in right field during Saturday's game. He attempted to walk off the field under his power, but would have to be carted the rest of the way from the outfield. This is easily the biggest injury to hit fantasy managers this season, as Acuna was slashing .283/.394/.596 with 24 homers, 17 steals, 52 RBI and 72 runs scored over 82 games this year. Abraham Almonte replaced Acuna in right field following the injury, and it appears likely now the Braves will go with some combination of Almonte, Guillermo Heredia, Ender Inciarte and Orlando Arcia in the outfield moving forward. Unfortunately none of those options will likely be able to even come close to putting up similar production to Acuna. Managers in all redraft formats should drop Acuna now, and start scouring the waiver-wire or trade block for a replacement.
