C.J. Cron Removed From Game After Being Hit In The Head
3 years agoColorado Rockies first baseman C.J. Cron (head) was hit square in the head by a pitch from Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Riley Smith on Thursday. Cron was hit on the helmet and was able to walk to first base, but he was removed from the game after that. The Rockies will likely put the right-handed slugger through the concussion protocol, so fantasy managers might want to plan on him missing a few games, at minimum. Josh Fuentes replaced Cron in the lineup. The 31-year-old is still looking for his first long ball in July, but he's been solid for those in deeper mixed leagues with 11 home runs, 33 RBI and a .357 on-base percentage in 258 plate appearances. Fuentes could be a short-term addition in NL-only leagues if Cron is forced to the seven-day concussion injured list.
