Chris Sale Will Be Built Back Up Before Being Activated
3 years agoBoston Red Sox pitching coach Dave Bush said that the plan is for starting pitcher Chris Sale (elbow) to be built all the way up to five or six innings before he's activated from the injured list. Sale is getting closer to a return and has been facing live hitters in live batting practice sessions, but the Red Sox won't rush him back from Tommy John surgery. Remember the All-Star left-hander didn't pitch at all last year, so he probably won't be back until around the middle of August, at the earliest. However, fantasy managers should still be stashing him on rosters right now for the potential upside once he returns, just don't expect the southpaw to display Cy Young stuff to close out the season.
