Phillip Evans In The Concussion Protocol
3 years agoPittsburgh Pirates manager Derek Shelton said that infielder/outfielder Phillip Evans (head) hit his head during the game on Monday and was put through the concussion protocol. Evans went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a strikeout in the ballgame and was removed in the ninth inning in a lopsided 11-1 win over the Atlanta Braves. It's unclear if he passed through the protocol, but there's a chance that Evans won't be in the lineup on Tuesday as a result. If he indeed suffered a concussion, the Pirates could be forced to put him on the seven-day concussion injured list. Evans has mostly been playing first base with Colin Moran on the IL, but he's hitting just .208/.310/.311 with five home runs and 15 RBI in 210 plate appearances this year and isn't much of a mixed league asset.
