Joe Ross Strikes Out Season-High 11 Batters Sunday
3 years agoWashington Nationals starting pitcher Joe Ross allowed three runs on seven hits while striking out a season-high 11 batters over 6 2/3 innings in a 5-1 loss on Sunday afternoon. The 11 strikeouts were the most in a start for him since he struck out a career-high 12 batters on June 8, 2017. Despite being saddled with the loss, Ross still recorded his third straight quality start and his fifth in his last six games, as he's now 5-8 with a 4.02 ERA and 91 strikeouts in 87 1/3 innings of work this season. Ross has looked much better on the mound since the beginning of June, and is a solid option to roster in most formats, and a higher end streaming option in shallower leagues.
