Tigers Limit Casey Mize To Three Innings On Friday
3 years agoThe Detroit Tigers began the load management process for starting pitcher Casey Mize during Friday's game against the Chicago White Sox. Mize was lifted after three innings and just 56 pitches. Tigers manager A.J. Hinch had been suggesting for over a month that the team would begin managing Mize's workload and Friday was the first time the process kicked in. Mize allowed four hits, one walk and two earned runs while striking out four in the game. It was his shortest outing of the year. He'd gone at least six innings in nine of his previous 11 starts. Mize has been so good lately that he should remain on rosters in all leagues. He should continue to help out in ratios while getting a few win opportunities here and there.
