Emmanuel Rivera To The Injured List With Hamate Fracture
3 years agoKansas City Royals third baseman Emmanuel Rivera (hand) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday with a left hamate fracture. Rivera was playing in only his second major league game on Tuesday night when he suffered the left hand injury. The 24-year-old had a .930 OPS with 14 home runs and 40 RBI in 44 games for Triple-A Omaha to earn the call-up, and he was getting a chance to prove he belonged in an everyday role at the hot corner. Expect him to miss more than the 10 days on the injured list with this injury. Outfielder Edward Olivares was called up from Omaha in a corresponding move. He has just a .553 OPS in 24 plate appearances this year, but he could become useful as outfield depth in AL-only leagues if he sees enough playing time. The Royals shifted outfielder Hunter Dozier to third base on Wednesday against Boston.
