Colin Moran Still Absent Wednesday
3 years agoPittsburgh Pirates first baseman Colin Moran (wrist) remains out of the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Colorado Rockies. Moran has been out since being hit by a pitch on his left wrist on Monday, but he's likely to be available off the bench on Wednesday, if needed. Phillip Evans will once again replace Moran at the cold corner, and he's hitting fifth in the batting order against Rockies right-hander Jon Gray. Moran is slashing a useful .280/.345/.414 on the season in 174 plate appearances, but he's lacking in the counting stats with just four homers, 11 runs and 23 RBI on the season. Evans isn't much of a replacement, as he's hit .125 (2-for-16) with six strikeouts in the last week. He has five home runs and 13 RBI in 51 games in 2021.
