3 years agoNew York Mets first baseman/outfielder Dominic Smith went 2-for-4 with a run scored in the Mets 8-4 loss to the Nationals on Monday. Smith's two hits were a welcome sight to the Mets and fantasy managers where he had been just 3-for-19 over his last six games. It has been a tough season so far for Smith, particularly considering he was one of the best hitters in the majors in 2020. Smith is slashing .245/.317/359 with just six home runs, 21 runs scored, and 29 RBI overall in 2021. Hopefully, Monday's performance can jump-start his bat as we head into July. Fantasy managers in shallow formats can likely leave Smith on the bench until such time that he starts hitting consistently.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
