J.A. Happ Sharp In Victory Over Cleveland
3 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher J.A. Happ put his previous June struggles behind him with a strong performance in Sunday's win over the Cleveland Indians. Happ pitched six innings, allowing two runs on six hits while issuing no walks. The veteran lefty struck out seven batters and generated 13 whiffs, nine of them on his fastball. Happ allowed a homer in the third and an RBI single in the sixth but kept the scoreboard clean other than that, working 1-2-3 frames in the second and fifth innings. Even with the strong effort, Happ has an unimpressive 5.83 ERA and 1.45 WHIP heading into a July 2 matchup with the Kansas City Royals. He's had mixed results against the Royals this year, earning a win in one start and allowing five runs in the other.
