Chris Sale To Face Live Hitters Saturday
4 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Chris Sale (elbow) will make an important step in his recovery from Tommy John surgery on Saturday when he throws around 20 pitches to live hitters. It will be the first time that Sale has faced live hitters since spring training of last year. Manager Alex Cora thinks Sale will have at least one more session against hitters before the team sends him on a minor league rehab assignment. Barring any setbacks, the left-hander could make his season debut with the BoSox some time in August. When healthy, the 32-year-old has the potential to be one of the best pitchers in baseball, but fantasy managers that have stashed him all season should temper expectations when he returns. But because of his upside, he's worth picking up if he remains available in your league.
