Griffin Jax Picks Up First Career Win
3 years agoMinnesota Twins pitcher Griffin Jax picked up the first win of his career in Friday's victory over the Cleveland Indians. Jax entered the game in the second inning in relief of opener Danny Coulombe and proceeded to give the Twins 4 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on three hits. He walked and struck out a pair of batters. Jax utilized a four-pitch mix- fastball, changeup, slider, and curveball- though he generated only four whiffs and was hit pretty hard for an average exit velocity of 93 MPH. He has given the Twins at least four innings in each of his last two appearances but has allowed seven combined runs in that span. If Randy Dobnak (finger) or Michael Pineda (forearm) isn't ready to pitch next week, the Twins could turn to Jax as a spot starter, though he wouldn't provide much fantasy value as a streamer.
