Edwin Diaz With Five-Out Save On Wednesday
3 years agoNew York Mets relief pitcher Edwin Diaz locked down his 16th save of the year on Wednesday night, throwing 1 2/3 innings pitched to secure the Mets 7-3 win over the Braves. Diaz allowed just one walk while striking out two, to convert the five-out save. He threw 33 pitches in the outing but, with a day off on Thursday, Diaz should be available for the Mets doubleheader against the Phillies on Friday, should the Mets need him in one of those games. Diaz has been nothing short of dominant in save situations this season, having converted 16 of 17 save opportunities, allowing only one earned run in 18 IP with 25 strikeouts in such outings. Diaz should, of course, remain active in all fantasy formats.
