Jacob deGrom Throws Five Scoreless Innings Monday
Jacob deGrom (shoulder) looked pretty healthy on Monday in Game 1 of a doubleheader against the Atlanta Braves just five days after exiting his previous start with right shoulder soreness. deGrom retired the first eight hitters in the 4-2 win in seven innings, throwing five shutout innings while striking out six and walking two to lower his ERA to a miniscule 0.50 on the season. The two-time Cy Young winner allowed just one hit. He also extended his scoreless streak to 30 innings. Overall, the 33-year-old right-hander has a ridiculous 0.88 FIP, 0.51 WHIP, 14.63 K/9, 1.25 BB/9 and a 117:10 K:BB in 12 starts over 72 innings pitched. Injuries have been an issue, but deGrom has handled them as well as possible and isn't slowing down anytime soon. He's the best pitcher in baseball and is a must-start each time he toes the rubber.
