Shed Long Jr. Doubles Twice Thursday
4 years agoSeattle Mariners utility man Shed Long Jr. went 2-for-4 with two doubles against the Tampa Bay Rays Thursday night. He also scored a run and drove in another. One of those doubles tied the game in the bottom of the ninth, paving the way for a walk-off single from pinch-hitter Kyle Seager. In 31 at-bats this year, Long Jr. has a decent .701 OPS, but he has yet to hit a home run or steal a base. He has the potential to hold value for fantasy, but those counting stats will need to start to add up before a roster spot is warranted.

Shed Long Jr. Among Players Outrighted Off Mariners Roster
3 years agoSeattle Mariners utility man Shed Long Jr. (shin) was one of a number of players outrighted off the 40-man roster Friday. Utility man Sam Haggerty, pitcher Darren McCaughan, outfielder Marcus Wilson, and pitcher Ryan Weber were also sent to Triple-A. Long Jr. and Weber have both elected free agency. It's been a tough road for Long Jr., who has had each of the last two seasons end with shin issues. There's some power and speed upside, but it's hard to imagine Long Jr. being a factor for fantasy managers entering 2022 no matter where he ends up.
