Garrett Hampson Goes Yard In Win
Garrett Hampson went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored, and a walk in a 7-3 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday. Hampson followed up C.J. Cron's grand slam in the first inning with a solo home run of his own, which was his first long ball since May 14. The speedy 26-year-old is slashing a disappointing .246/.301/.434 across 219 at-bats this season but he's put up some decent counting stats with 13 doubles, five triples, six home runs, 17 RBI, and 12 stolen bases. He went through quite a slump in May but has shown better plate discipline in June, slashing .341/.356/.523 over the last 15 games. He can be frustrating at times but he's not an easy player to bench with the upside that he possesses.

Garrett Hampson Inks Minor-League Deal With Arizona
Garrett Hampson to a minor-league contract. Hampson will be invited to spring training. Last season, Hampson appeared in 113 games with the Kansas City Royals. The 30-year-old held a .230/.275/.300 line with seven stolen bases. Under the hood, he generated a poor .244 xwOBA and a .206 xBA, which suggests he will face some regression during the 2025 season. However, he did place in the 99th percentile in sprint speed. During the 2023 campaign, the utility bat held a .273/.349/.380 line with three home runs and five stolen bases. Fantasy managers should expect Hampson to compete for a spot on the Opening Day roster as a super-utility player during spring training.

Garrett Hampson Busy On Thursday
Garrett Hampson contributed in a lot of different areas in Thursday night's 10-4 win over the Los Angeles Angels. Hampson went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, a stolen base, a run scored and a walk at the bottom of the Royals' batting order. The 29-year-old is currently hitting .268/.302/.317 with no home runs, three RBI, four stolen bases and five runs scored in just 41 at-bats in 2024. The former third-round pick of the Colorado Rockies in 2016 out of Long Beach State offers plenty of defensive versatility but is merely an option for fantasy baseball managers in AL-only leagues because he's currently on the short side of a platoon with Kyle Isbel in center field for the Royals.

Royals Sign Garrett Hampson To One-Year Deal
Garrett Hampson to a one-year, $2 million deal on Wednesday, according to sources. Hampson hit the open market this offseason after he was non-tendered by the Miami Marlins. The 29-year-old utility man saw action at shortstop, second base, third base and all over the outfield in 2023 for the Fish and was productive at the plate as well, slashing .276/.349/.380 with three home runs, 12 doubles, a triple, 23 RBI, five stolen bases and 30 runs scored in 98 games played in his first year away from Colorado. Hampson isn't an everyday player at the big-league level, but he could have a shot to play even more in 2024 with the rebuilding Royals. Hampson has only 29 career home runs with a .241 batting average in six seasons in the majors.

Garrett Hampson Promoted To Leadoff Spot Tuesday
Garrett Hampson will hit out of the leadoff spot for just the third time this season Tuesday night against Washington Nationals right-hander Josiah Gray. Signed to a minor-league deal following his release from the Colorado Rockies, Hampson has managed to appear in 26 games with the Marlins this season while producing solid figures at the plate. The 28-year-old is hitting .262 with one homer, two stolen bases, and a .725 OPS across 69 trips to the plate. That production is 2% below the league average, as per his 98 wRC+, while Hampson has seen time at second base, shortstop, right field, and center field. He will man center field on Tuesday while taking on a pitcher in Gray who sports a 2.96 ERA but also a 4.36 FIP and 4.72 SIERA across eight starts.
