Tyler Glasnow Moved To 60-Day Injured List
4 years agoThe Tampa Bay Rays transferred starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (elbow) to the 60-day injured list on Thursday to make room for infielder Mike Ford, whom they acquired in a trade from the New York Yankees. Glasnow was a candidate for the American League Cy Young award before he suffered a partially torn UCL and flexor strain in his right arm earlier this week. For now, the right-hander will avoid attempt to rehab his injury to avoid undergoing Tommy John surgery, which would keep him out for the rest of this season and likely half of next year. Because of the high-end upside, Glasnow needs to be stashed by his fantasy managers, but don't necessarily count on him returning in 2021. The 27-year-old was 5-2 with a 2.66 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, 123 strikeouts and 27 walks in 14 starts over 88 innings before his injury.
