Nelson Cruz Blasts 14th Homer
3 years agoMinnesota Twins designated hitter Nelson Cruz went 1-for-3 with a three-run homer in Wednesday's win over the Seattle Mariners. Cruz got some measure of revenge against his former team, sending a Justus Sheffield sinker 421 feet into the left-field seats on the first pitch of the at-bat, giving the Twins a 6-0 lead. The blast registered an exit velocity of 112.3 MPH. Cruz has been otherworldly in June, slashing .390/.480/.756 with four home runs, nine RBI, and an 8:8 strikeout-to-walk ratio. The veteran slugger will get a day to rest before the revenge tour continues against another former employer, the Texas Rangers, in a three-game series starting on Friday. Cruz owns a .935 OPS with 21 homers and 50 RBI in 84 career games against the Rangers.
