Daily Fantasy Baseball Streamers - MLB Hitter, Pitcher Lineup Picks For Wednesday 6/16

CJ Cron - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

Baseball is back, and fantasy managers in daily leagues no doubt already have holes to fill. The easiest way to do that is with streamers. Fortunately, RotoBaller has you covered with daily streaming picks.

Each day, RotoBaller will provide you with some of the best fantasy baseball streaming picks - options to consider in fantasy baseball daily leagues. Additionally, these recommendations can be useful for fantasy managers setting DFS lineups.

We have a split slate Wednesday that sees its first pitch thrown at 1:15pm ET, and there are some solid streaming hitter options beginning right with that initial contest of the day. We have an interesting mix of the best of the best (Jacob deGrom), the very good (Aaron Civale, Freddy Peralta, Zack Greinke), the inexperienced (Bailey Ober) and everything else in between as far as pitchers, so it’s an interesting day for matchups and for finding a couple of viable, low-rostered arms as well.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and weekly lineup resources:

Roster percentages referenced are from Yahoo! leagues.

Hitter Streamers for 6/16 - Shallow Leagues

Max Stassi (C, LAA) 33% rostered

Matchup: @ OAK LHP Cole Irvin

Stassi is enjoying the best season of his career, as he’s broken out for a .323/.397/.615 slash line that includes four doubles, five home runs and 11 RBI across 22 games. The veteran has even slotted into the No. 3 to No. 5 holes in the order in seven of his contests, a testament to how productive he’s been. Wednesday, he gets an opposite-handed matchup against Irvin, whose 4.30 xERA and 4.55 xFIP are notably higher than his respective 3.70 and 3.71 figures in those categories, and who’s given up six of the eight homers he’s surrendered on the season to right-handed hitters. Stassi boasts an elite .431 wOBA overall, and although he’s been much better against righties in this season’s small sample, the hot-hitting backstop posted a 1.024 OPS and .414 wOBA versus southpaws a season ago.

Amed Rosario (SS, OF, CLE) 46% rostered

Matchup: vs. BAL LHP Keegan Akin

Rosario sports a rock-solid .284 average, and he heads into Wednesday’s matchup against Akin with a .467 average and 1.017 OPS across the 31 plate appearances covering his last seven games. The 25-year-old is holding down an everyday job at shortstop and has been at his best versus right-handers, which he’s touched up for a .345 average, .804 OPS and .363 wOBA when facing them in his home park. Meanwhile, the right-handed Akin has had his trouble in same-handed matchups on the road, allowing a .270 average, .348 wOBA and 6.00 xFIP in that sample while posting an abysmal 2.4 K-BB%. Orioles relievers could also make for solid targets for Rosario, as they’ve pitched to a 4.75 ERA and .328 wOBA thus far in June.

C.J. Cron (1B, COL) 33% rostered

Matchup: vs. SDP LHP Blake Snell

Cron faces a talented southpaw in Snell that’s had his fair share of struggles this season and against the Rockies slugger in the past (.375 BAA over eight career encounters). Cron has been raking against lefties throughout his first season in Colorado, posting a .333 average, .993 OPS, .424 wOBA and 157 wRC+ against that handedness. Snell checks into Wednesday’s Coors matchup with an array of unfavorable metrics that include a 5.4 BB/9 and 1.2 HR/9, as well as a 9.24 ERA, .298 BAA, .935 OPS and .407 wOBA surrendered over 25.1 road frames. Factor in the Coors Field environment and the fact Padres relievers have pitched to a .341 wOBA thus far in June, and Cron becomes very worthy of consideration.

Miguel Andujar (3B, OF, NYY) 35% rostered

Matchup: @ TOR RHP Ross Stripling

Andujar comes into Wednesday’s matchup running hot at the plate, as he boasts a .346 average and .977 OPS over his last seven games (30 plate appearances). The 26-year-old has been especially successful in same-handed matchups, as he’s tormented righties for a .302 average and .346 wOBA overall, with those figures bumping up to .324 and .354, respectively, when factoring in only his road splits. Stripling makes for an excellent target as well, considering the Blue Jays right-hander has been touched up in same-handed matchups for a .314 average, .389 wOBA and 2.1 HR/9. Toronto relievers have been vulnerable recently as well, pitching to a 5.67 ERA and .367 wOBA when facing right-handed hitters over the first half of June.

Hitter Streamers for 6/16 - Deeper Leagues

Jesus Sanchez (OF, MIA) 13% rostered

Matchup: @ STL RHP Johan Oviedo

Sanchez made his 2021 debut in Tuesday’s loss to the Cardinals, going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. The promising prospect should be back in the lineup again Wednesday against Oviedo, whose collection of troublesome numbers includes a 5.47 xERA, 5.18 xFIP, 5.7 BB/9 and 1.6 HR/9. Oviedo has particularly had trouble in opposite-handed matchups, as lefty bats have gotten to him for a .317 average, .406 wOBA and 1.9 HR/9. In turn, Sanchez has admittedly done next to nothing at the big-league level so far (one hit in 33 career plate appearances), but he has put together a decorated minor-league career that includes a .349/.400/.643 slash line with 17 XBH and 28 RBI across 140 plate appearances this year at Triple-A Jacksonville. Oviedo is not a high-strikeout arm by any means – which should alleviate Sanchez’s trouble with consistent contact thus far in his small big-league sample – and it doesn’t hurt the young outfielder’s cause that St. Louis relievers own a 6.00 ERA and have allowed a .357 wOBA to the 41 lefty hitters they’ve faced in June so far.

Victor Caratini (C, SDP) - 4% rostered

Matchup: @ COL LHP Kyle Freeland

The switch-hitting Caratini makes for an intriguing low-rostered option to throw out in the Coors Field matchup against Freeland, who’s been eviscerated by right-handed hitters for a .352 average, .461 wOBA, 3.5 HR/9 and 6.56 xFIP across a 62-batter sample thus far in 2021. Freeland also owns an absurdly low 1.8 K/9 in his home park, while Caratini has hit well against southpaws, as evidenced by a .324 average and .353 OBP against that handedness. He also owns a .338 wOBA versus lefties on the road, and he should be in a position to benefit whenever Freeland exits considering Rockies relievers sport a .286 BAA and .372 wOBA versus the 54 right-handed hitters they’ve faced at Coors thus far in June.

Chas McCormick (OF, HOU) 1% rostered

Matchup: vs. TEX RHP Jordan Lyles

McCormick has been seeing regular playing time and is likely to draw another start Wednesday with Kyle Tucker (illness) ailing, and he’ll be an interesting option to roll out against Lyles, who’s pitched to a 5.47 xERA and 1.6 HR/9 while also allowing career highs in average exit velocity (91.1 mph) and hard-hit rate (44.6 percent) per Statcast. The majority of the veteran right-hander’s troubles have come in same-handed matchups as well, as he’s yielded a .318 average and .352 wOBA in that split, along with nine of the 12 homers he’s given up. McCormick has shown some nice pop with six homers over his first 100 career plate appearances, and he carries a .365 wOBA, .292 ISO and 33.3 percent line-drive rate versus right-handed pitching into Wednesday’s matchup.

Donovan Solano (2B/3B/SS, SFG) 11% rostered

Matchup: vs. ARI RHP Merrill Kelly

Solano has been a steady presence for the Giants this season, posting a solid .274 average across his first 138 plate appearances. He offers only modest pop (nine XBH), but he finds himself in an attractive matchup Wednesday against Kelly, who’s given up a .296 average, .869 OPS and .368 wOBA to right-handed hitters on the road, along with a 2.2 HR/9 in that split. Solano has been solid against either handedness of pitcher but especially impressive when facing righties at home, a split in which he owns a .370 average, .869 OPS, .375 wOBA and 142 wRC+, along with a 26.1 percent line-drive rate. It’s also worth noting Solano is an excellent four-seam fastball hitter, posting a .432 wOBA against a pitch that qualifies as Kelly’s most-often thrown offering and one he’s given up a .356 wOBA on when deploying this season.

Pitcher Streamers for 6/16 - Shallow Leagues

Cole Irvin (SP, OAK) - 31% rostered

Matchup: vs. LAA RHP Griffin Canning

Irvin is in play for me despite the fact I also recommended Stassi as a streaming hitter against him, as the overall matchup against the Angels bodes well for the left-hander. Los Angeles has struggled against left-handed pitching on the road as a team all season, posting a .212 average, .616 OPS, -10.1 wRAA and .277 wOBA versus that handedness over 375 total plate appearances. Irvin has yet to face the Angels this season, but he heads into the favorable matchup having bounced back from a recent rocky three-start stretch with consecutive quality starts against the Rockies at Coors and versus the Royals, a pair of outings during which he’s pitched to a collective 1.50 ERA and a 9:1 K:BB.

Pitcher Streamers for 6/16 - Deeper Leagues

Garrett Richards (SP, BOS) 19% rostered

Matchup: @ ATL RHP Ian Anderson

Richards is one of the only viable sub-20-percent-rostered pitchers on Wednesday’s slate in my view. The veteran right-hander has been serviceable for the Red Sox during his first season in Boston, posting a 4-4 mark and 4.09 ERA while giving up more than four earned runs in only one start. None of Richards’ metrics jump off the page by any stretch, but he’s encouragingly been very effective on the road, where he boasts a 3-1 mark, 2.89 ERA and 8.9 K/9 across 46.2 innings. Meanwhile, the Braves have struggled against right-handed pitching at home of late, posting a 31.2 percent strikeout rate, .216 average and pedestrian .313 wOBA in that split over the last month.
