Max Scherzer Lands On The 10-Day Injured List
3 years agoWashington Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer (groin) was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday. The move is retroactive to Saturday. According to manager Davey Martinez, the Nationals ace is not expected to be on the IL past the 10-day minimum. "So we'll give him a few extra days," Martinez said, "and hopefully it won't take long for him to come back, and he'll just miss a start." He exited Friday's contest against the Giants early after just 12 pitches due to a groin strain. Fantasy managers can breathe a sigh of relief as it appears Scherzer could be reinstated from the 10-day injured ahead of next Tuesday's game against the Phillies. The three-time Cy Young Award winner has been terrific in 2021, owning a 2.21 ERA, 0.81 WHIP, and 104 strikeouts across 77.1 innings in 2021.
