Domingo German Shelled For Season-High Seven Runs Sunday
3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Domingo German was shelled in Sunday's loss to the Philadelphia Phillies. German lasted just 4 1/3 innings, allowing a season-high seven runs on 10 hits. He struck out two and walked just one batter. German allowed runs to cross the plate in all but two of the frames he pitched Sunday, too often leaving pitches over the heart of the plate to Phillies' hitters. On a positive note, German had allowed three runs or less in every single one of his starts heading into Sunday- so the down performance was a major outlier. He'll look to bounce back at home against the Oakland Athletics in his next start. Oakland has a much better OPS on the road compared to at home this season.
