Kenta Maeda Has Successful First Rehab Start
3 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Kenta Maeda (groin, arm) had a solid first rehab outing for the Triple-A St. Paul Saints. Maeda pitched four innings, allowing one run on one hit and one walk. He struck out five batters on 54 pitches and displayed good velocity on his fastball. It's not yet clear when Maeda will return to the Twins rotation, though he's certainly close to being built up for a big-league workload- and he noted that he doesn't think he'll require another appearance at the minor league level. Fantasy managers will hope that the time off has allowed Maeda to fix up some things with his pitching mechanics, as his strikeout and groundball rates had dipped while his hard-hit rate had ballooned, resulting in one of the worst stretches of his career.
