Sandy Alcantara Throws Eight Excellent Innings On Sunday
3 years agoMiami Marlins starting pitcher Sandy Alcantara was excellent in Sunday's series finale against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He pitched eight innings, allowing just one unearned run on six hits and two walks. He struck out six, picking up his third win to improve to 3-5 on the year with a 3.30 ERA. The Marlins desperately needed this kind of pitching performance to snap an eight-game losing streak, and their ace provided just that. Alcantara's ERA is still a little bloated from an awful performance at Dodger Stadium last month, but he's been excellent all season otherwise.
