3 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Matt Shoemaker was shelled for eight earned runs in the first inning of Friday's loss to the Kansas City Royals. Shoemaker mustered just one out in the frame as the Royals hit through their entire order once, tagging the veteran right-hander for six hits and nine total runs. The Royals have had Shoemaker's number this year, as he's allowed 21 earned runs in three starts against them, compared to 20 earned runs allowed in eight starts against other teams. It certainly puts his fantasy performance in perspective, though he is below average in several expected stats, suggesting that his overall numbers have been relatively deserved so far.--Tim Capurso
