New York Mets infielder Luis Guillorme (oblique), who hasn't played since April 25 due to a strained oblique in his right side, could return to the Mets by next Friday if he has no setbacks according to manager Luis Rojas. Guillorme played three innings at third base in his first rehab game with the Mets Triple-A affiliate Syracuse on Friday. He reached base in both plate appearances with a walk and single. Assuming Guillorme suffers no setbacks during his rehab stint, his return will be a welcome sight to the Mets who are depleted as a result of injuries. His return could push infielder Jose Peraza back to Triple-A or impact Brandon Drury's playing time. Guillorme has posted a.333/.478/.333 slash line in 18 at-bats over 14 games on the season. With third baseman J.D. Davis (hand) being held back from a rehab assignment due to continuing issues with his hand, Guillorme could see an uptick in playing time when he eventually returns, given his defensive skill set.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller

The 29-year-old missed the second-half opener on Friday after being stretched for the first-half finale on July 14 due to back tightness but will return to the keystone and hit ninth on Saturday against A's righty Mitch Spence. Known more for his defense, Guillorme is hitting just .226 without a homer and one stolen base across 50 games on the season while his 71 wRC+ sits 29% below the league average. A career .256 hitter with only five homers and five steals in 385 career games, Guillorme continues to be kept well off the fantasy radar.--Brenton Kemp

The Los Angeles Angels acquired infielder Luis Guillorme from the Atlanta Braves on Thursday in exchange for cash considerations, according to sources. The 29-year-old had signed a one-year, $1.1 million deal with the Braves in the offseason. Guillorme only appeared in nine games for Atlanta, going 3-for-20 (.150) with three RBI in 21 plate appearances. A backup infielder with the Braves, Guillorme will now have a much better shot at playing time in Anaheim, mainly at third base with Anthony Rendon (hamstring) out until at least late June and probably longer. Guillorme can provide infield versatility and gives the Halos a nice contact hitter from the left side, but his fantasy impact will likely be limited to AL-only leagues, depending on how much he actually plays. He's a career .258/.341/.331 hitter with only five homers, 51 RBI and four steals in seven big-league seasons.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

The Atlanta Braves signed free-agent infielder Luis Guillorme to a one-year, $1.1 million eal on Friday and also avoided salary arbitration with right-hander Huascar Ynoa by inking him to a one-year, $825,000 deal. Guillorme, 29, is a left-handed hitter who played second base, third base and shortstop in 2023 and slashed .261/.344/.333 in 823 plate appearances over the last six seasons in Queens. The Venezuelan utility infielder is mostly useful for his defensive abilities, as he has only five home runs and 48 RBI in 334 career games played, and playing time isn't going to be easy to come by in Atlanta. Ynoa missed all of last season after having Tommy John surgery in September of 2022. The 25-year-old should be ready to go at some point in 2024, but he holds a bloated 5.22 ERA and 1.32 WHIP in 122 1/3 innings over 31 appearances (24 starts) in his four years with the Braves.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Imaging revealed that New York Mets third baseman Luis Guillorme (calf) has a Grade 2 strain of his right calf, which is expected to keep him sidelined for four to six weeks. Guillorme is going to miss well beyond the 10 days on his injured-list stint, and he might not even be able to return until the final month of the regular season in September. The 28-year-old didn't have much fantasy value in a part-time role for the Mets when he was healthy, and he was hitting .238/.304/.347 with only one home run, six doubles, a triple, nine RBI and 12 runs scored in 50 games and 114 plate appearances at the time of his injury.
