Minnesota Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers will get a breather on Friday and is not in the lineup for the game against the Kansas City Royals. Jeffers has appeared in each of the first two games since being called up, going 4-for-8 with a home run, two runs scored, and two RBI. Benjamin Rortvedt will be behind the plate and will bat ninth.--Tim Capurso

Minnesota Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers had a big day in an 11-1 win over the Cleveland Guardians on Monday. Jeffers went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a homer, two runs, and three RBI in the lopsided win. The veteran backstop ripped a two-run homer in the eighth inning, a shot that traveled 412 feet with an exit velocity of 102.3 MPH. Jeffers is now hitting .257 with seven doubles, one homer, seven runs, and 10 RBI across 74 at-bats this season. He hit 21 homers in 2024, so there is some power in his bat, making him a decent fantasy option at the catcher position.--Matt T - RotoBaller

The Minnesota Twins have essentially split the catching duties down the middle with Ryan Jeffers (152 starts) and Christian Vazquez (172) starts the last two seasons, but with Vazquez going 5-for-33 (.152) early on this year, the Twins are planning to give more playing time to Jeffers moving forward. Before Vazquez started a day game on Thursday, Jeffers had started three straight games and six times in seven games. "RJ is going to find a few more at-bats in the near term," manager Rocco Baldelli said. "See if we can get the offense going more than we've seen." Jeffers also broke out of his season-opening slump on Wednesday by going 3-for-5 with a double. He's now hitting .254 with no homers in his first 17 games, but his .682 OPS is better than Vazquez's weak .467 mark. Jeffers' expected metrics show he has gotten a bit unlucky. Defense is a different story, but the Twins are prioritizing offense right now, and Jeffers has the advantage.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Minnesota Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers will retreat to the bench on Saturday for a rest day at Target Field against the division-rival Detroit Tigers. Christian Vazquez will do the catching for right-hander Chris Paddack and will hit ninth against rookie right-hander Jackson Jobe. The Twins continue to split the catching duties right down the middle between Jeffers and Vazquez, making them both tough to rely on, even in deeper formats. The 27-year-old Jeffers has gone 7-for-32 (.219) with a double, four RBI, a run scored, two walks and eight strikeouts in nine games played. Vazquez has been even worse at the plate, going 3-for-21 with no homers and a run scored in nine games played. He has not faced Jobe in his career and should be avoided for DFS lineups.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Minnesota Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers is absent from the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Kansas City Royals. This appears to be a routine rest day for Jeffers after he started in each of the last three games. That being said, Christian Vazquez will do the catching and bat seventh versus left-hander Cole Ragans. Vazquez has been cold at the plate with only one hit in his last 11 at-bats. He's unlikely to have much success against a tough southpaw here. Fantasy managers should look elsewhere for a streaming option on Friday.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller
