Gleyber Torres Has Two-Hit Night
3 years agoNew York Yankees shortstop Gleyber Torres went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored in Wednesday's victory over the Tampa Bay Rays. Torres doubled in the fourth, then came around to score on a Clint Frazier two-run single. The 24-year-old shortstop is batting .278 with four walks and two strikeouts over his last six contests. Torres' expected batting average is solid, though his barrel rate, average exit velocity, and hard-hit rate have yet to reach the heights of his strong campaigns in 2018 and 2019. Torres is actually underperforming his expected batting average and slugging percentage on fastballs, so catching up to and punishing heaters would certainly make his numbers look better.
