3 years agoMinnesota Twins catcher Mitch Garver (groin) was placed on the 10-day injured list with a groin contusion Wednesday. Garver had to exit Tuesday's game early after being hit in the groin by a foul ball and he had surgery early Wednesday to repair the injury. The veteran backstop is expected to miss at least the next couple of weeks as a bare minimum. Ryan Jeffers was recalled from the minors in a corresponding move and he's expected to be utilized as a true starting catcher in Garver's absence. Jeffers struggled in his brief stint up in the majors earlier this year, as he batted just .147 with an 18:3 strikeout-to-walk ratio.--Tim Capurso
