John Gant Throws Six Shutout Innings On Tuesday
3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher John Gant contributed six more scoreless innings on Tuesday, earning a quality start but ending up with a no-decision. Gant allowed four hits and three walks but pitched around all of those base runners thanks to four well-timed strikeouts and two well-timed double plays. Gant has been excellent at keeping runs off the board this season, putting up a 1.60 ERA through 50 2/3 innings so far. His FIP (3.97) and xFIP (5.03) combined with the fact that he's walking about the same number of batters as he's striking out makes for a chance at significant regression coming soon. Gant is a great sell-high player right now.
