A.J. Allmendinger Not So Surprisingly Ends Up Fifth At Austin
4 years agoA.J. Allmendinger was able to easily negotiate the on and off rain all afternoon at the Circuit Of The Americas. His car was certainly not the fastest but he appeared to be the most in control on the 3.41-mile-long track. The result was fifth place for the No. 16 Chevy. He did not lead any of the 54 laps either. The strange thing was that Allmendinger never really got in a position to challenge for the lead other than early in the race. He just gradually improved from 19th after Stage 1 to 8th after Stage 2 then fifth at the end.
