Tony Gonsolin To Throw Simulated Game This Week
3 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tony Gonsolin (shoulder) will throw a three-inning simulated game this week, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Manager Dave Roberts said that once Gonsolin is stretched out to throw a four-inning simulated game, then he would feel comfortable with activating him off the injured list. Gonsolin has yet to appear in a game this season, as he comes off a 2020 campaign that saw him finish fourth in the NL Rookie of the Year race after going 2-2 with a 2.31 ERA and a 26.1 percent strikeout rate over 46 2/3 innings of work. When activated, Gonsolin is expected to be a candidate to slot into the Dodgers rotation after Dustin May underwent Tommy John surgery earlier this month.
