Braxton Garrett Called Up By Miami
3 years agoMiami Marlins starting pitcher Braxton Garrett was called up to the active roster prior to Saturday's game, according to Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald. One of the top pitching prospects in Miami's system, Garrett went 1-1 with a 5.87 ERA and 23.5 percent strikeout rate over two starts in 2020. In two starts with Triple-A Jacksonville this year, Garrett is 1-0 with a 6.23 ERA and seven strikeouts in 8 2/3 innings. Garrett will replace Cody Poteet, who was optioned to Triple-A on Saturday. For now, managers shouldn't rush out to grab him off the waiver-wire, but if he can string together a couple solid appearances he's worth looking at for his strikeout potential after posting a 26.2 percent strikeout rate throughout his minor league career.
