Antonio Gibson 2021 Outlook: Capital Hype
4 years agoThe hype is strong around Antonio Gibson. Maybe it's because he is in his second season after a solid rookie campaign. Maybe it's because the Washington Football Team should actually be good this season and by using the run game, they can keep their elite defense fresh for late-game heroics. Either way, Gibson will be a major focus of the Washington offense in 2021. Coming out of Memphis, Gibson rushed the ball 170 times for 795 yards and a team-leading 11 touchdowns. At 6'2 and 220 lbs, he is also a major receiving threat. He showed this as well in 2020 with 36 receptions in the passing game. Ryan Fitzpatrick may not be the greatest QB of all time, but he is far better than the lackluster cast which was thrown out last season by the Football Team. Alex Smith was an amazing story, but when he is the best you have at the position, things are dismal. They certainly were for the offense. Fitzpatrick and his gunslinger mentality will bring a whole new feeling to this offense. With Terry McLaurin and Gibson leading the way, Washington is likely to repeat as division champs of the NFC East. Taking Gibson as your RB2 will go a long way in helping your fantasy team also win a championship. He is not only the RB to own in Washington, but he has the receiving ability to also give you WR3 numbers from the RB position. For this reason alone, he makes a great selection in the late second round of fantasy drafts. If you can snag him later, even better. But do not shy away from him because of the Washington offense we saw last season. This season will be far different.
